Lincoln Highway Exhibit

Once called “America’s Main Street,” the Lincoln Highway followed the same path along the Platte River through Nebraska that had been used for the Oregon Trail, the Pony Express and the railroad before it.

Visit our outdoor tribute to the automotive pioneers who traveled America’s first transcontinental highway. Developed as an Eagle Scout project by Brian Cassler of Canton, Ohio, our display includes bricks that paved the original highway in 1913, an original Lincoln Highway road marker and a replica sign from the Hammer Motel, a popular overnight stop for early travelers along the Lincoln Highway in Kearney, Nebraska.
