[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]August 25 – 5:30pm – Historic Anniversary at the Archway
Join 1848 Venture Crew Civil War reenactors in observing the 107th anniversary of the Fort Kearney National Park Association re-union, during which association officials marked the south channel of the Platte River near Fort Kearny so that everyone would remember the history of the place where the trails westward crossed the river. The contours of the river have changed and the marker was moved from its original site. But you can still see the trail marker on display, today, at the Archway.

This wide ranging survey of Anglo-American folk music includes British Isles ballads that are 500 years old along with the American folk songs they helped to inspire. Hear these traditional tunes played on a variety of heritage instruments including the mountain dulcimer, fiddle and autoharp. The performance is free and open to the public and is presented with the support of Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
Following the performance, join us for ice cream sodas served from the Archway’s vintage soda fountain. Donations welcome.
